A New Chapter Begins
After becoming empty nesters and spending three fulfilling decades in healthcare, my husband and I felt it was time for a new chapter, one that embraced adventure, purpose, and a deeper connection to life. Italy has always held a special place in my heart, not only for its breathtaking landscapes but also for its slower, more intentional way of living. The culture, history, and warmth of the people create a sense of belonging that is hard to find elsewhere.
It didn’t take long to realize that Calabria was calling us home. My parents are originally from this stunning region, and some of my family still live here. On previous visits, we were captivated by its rugged coastline, quaint villages, and rich traditions, many of which have remained untouched by time. Unlike the well-trodden paths of Italy’s tourist hotspots, Calabria offers something rare: authenticity. It’s a place where life moves at a different rhythm, meals are made with love and local ingredients, and the connection between land and people is still sacred.

We knew this was where we wanted to build our future. So, we made the leap and purchased a charming villa with an olive grove near the sea. Now, we’re preparing to move in the summer of 2025, eager to immerse ourselves in a lifestyle that prioritizes nature, tradition and community.

Embracing the Simple Beauty of Farm Life
One of the things we’re most excited about is embracing the traditional way of life—the true meaning of *la dolce vita*. Our farm will be more than just a home; it will be a return to the fundamentals of sustainable living. We’ll produce our own olive oil from trees that have stood the test of time, garden fruits and vegetables, keep chickens for fresh eggs, and perhaps even welcome a few goats into our little homestead.
With the ocean right at our doorstep, we’re also looking forward to a lifestyle rich in outdoor activities. From morning swims in the Mediterranean to afternoons spent kayaking, paddleboarding, or even kitesurfing, we want to fully embrace the natural beauty of southern Italy. More than anything, we hope to create a place where others can experience this way of life firsthand. A space where they can reconnect with nature, savor traditional foods, and feel a true sense of belonging.
Curating Intimate & Immersive Tours
As we settle into our new life, we’ll also be launching our boutique tour company, offering carefully curated experiences through Calabria and the surrounding regions. Starting in the fall of 2025, we’ll host two 7-day tours each month, with small groups of 6 to 8 people. This intimate setting allows us to create truly personalized experiences, tailored to the desires of our guests.
Our tours will go beyond sightseeing, they will be immersive, cultural experiences designed to slow things down and connect visitors with the heart and soul of southern Italy. Guests will have the opportunity to:
- Explore Hidden Villages – Wander through medieval streets, meet local artisans, and learn the stories behind Calabria’s historic towns.
- Savor Traditional Cuisine – Enjoy wine, cheese, and olive oil tastings, take part in pasta-making classes, and indulge in farm-to-table meals prepared by local chefs.
- Experience the Land & Sea– Hike scenic trails, take boat excursions along the stunning coastline, and even try their hand at stand-up paddleboarding.
- Engage in Cultural Traditions – Learn basket weaving from skilled artisans, make gelato with local experts, and witness centuries-old customs that have been passed down through generations.

We believe that travel should be more than just ticking destinations off a list, it should be about connection. Connection to the land, to the people, and to a way of life that leaves a lasting impact.
A Future Rooted in Purpose & Sustainability
As we build our new life in Calabria, sustainability will remain at the heart of everything we do. From supporting local farmers and artisans to embracing eco-friendly practices on our farm and in our tours, we want to contribute to the preservation of Calabria’s traditions and natural beauty. By bringing guests into this world, we hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for slow, sustainable travel, one that values experience over excess and connection over convenience.
